Once we shared a vision Seekers on a mission Endless targets to explore Once we knew the question Self-assured direction Balance to restore Now the door is closing Options are eroding Doubtfulness is taking shape Impact is approaching Time to make our last escape Yesterday unravels Longing disentangles Loving will undo us all Intimate reflection Feed it back to me Lost within the frenzy Constantly unready Agony we carry Burden that we bury It’s time to let it drift away Ignorance conceals Innocence reveals all Patterns are imploding Time to make our last escape Yesterday unravels Longing disentangles Loving will undo us all Intimate reflection Feed it back to me

Listen to an empty thought All I know All I left behind Asking why it all went wrong Who to blame Who was strong Falling back on old routines Battered signs Maps that don’t align Floating back to failed schemes Tortured lines Undermined Justice will be served Tyranny will fall Lessons will be learned Liberty for all I will raise my hand I will take a stand I will raise my hand I will take a stand I will raise my hand I will take a stand

Kinder 03:51
If we could’ve been softer If we each had less to defend Would the message be stronger If we all chose not to pretend If the plan had been cleaner If the beat went straight through my head With a balanced demeanor We could’ve been kinder instead Tilt back against this grain Close your eyes and you can feel the roots grow Float wide in the freaky stream Own that silence in between Beating hearts demand respect Limbs adjusting, limbs mistrusting Hopeful tears beyond exception Tolerate without redemption Tides come calling, words impending Doom engulfed without accepting Self dissolved and goal picked clean Own that silence in between I could’ve been I should’ve been kinder I could’ve been I should’ve been kinder I could’ve been kinder I could’ve been kinder I should’ve been kinder to you

Cliffside poet Downward lean Lured to leap Siren serenade that holds me Fast upon on the verge Charm that shields Hex protect Stanza weaves Precarious protection Tantalizing prose Incantation Blushing vamp Lured to bleed Temptress undermines conviction Epilogue unfolds Overthrow my oneness Overthrow my purpose Overlook my pity Erase my part Erase my heart Cliffside poet Downward lean Lured to leap Siren serenade that holds me Fast upon on the verge

She said we were the perfect fit But we were high and she could’ve been wrong Unfazed, I was in for the trip Keep trying to pretend we belong Slender malice, rasping laughter Thrilling prowess, missing chapters Borderlines and comfort zones Promise above, deliciousness below Less natural need, unintended, undefined, than fury rigged and redesigned More ravenous greed than sacrifice She could’ve been wrong It’s nothing more than both of us She could’ve been wrong There is only both of us She could’ve been wrong Nothing more It’s nothing more than both of us deserve It’s nothing more than both of us deserve

Northern Star is glowing red and spitting fire Cryptic runes that raise the dead and stir desire Brandished mystery that fuels a lost agenda Tarnished history – burn, burn, burn

Big Beyond 04:15
Come share the well-earned blame Stamina is not the same as courage Emerge with purpose Reckless weakness shines Brightest when it hides behind our mercy But are we worthy? Somewhere We will All be Welcomed Someday We will All go Beyond Pay tribute to the fates Lilies to commemorate our failures Such sad disclaimers Don’t settle, don’t submit Search until the pieces fit together But do we measure? Somewhere We will All be Welcomed Someday We will All go Beyond We’re mostly ready, take us to the big beyond Almost ready, ready for the big beyond We’re mostly ready, take us to the big beyond

Tempers ebb and judgment drops Frozen swagger numb and locked Cold cold cold Gasping gloom that hangs aloft Black ice tearing thoughts apart Cold cold cold Inner embers recommit Inner spark that won’t submit Cold cold cold Shadows blur and then deform Cruel indifference blocks the warmth Cold cold cold Superficial need to mourn Blizzard breaks but won’t conform Cold cold cold Speed and strength our last resort Absent glare in disrepair Lost within that icy stare Frozen landscape vacuumed bare Everything we can’t repair Inner warmth that can’t be taught Strength and speed our last resort Cold, Cold, Cold

about

Overthrow My Oneness is a seductive blend of unexpected turns and suggestive closures that captures the tenuous balance between pessimism and optimism that so many of us have recently experienced. The original motivation for this project was to write rock songs that could be performed live – ironic, perhaps, given the pandemic.

Trapper maintains an appealing mid-tempo vibe throughout, blending rock, funk, & jazz over unusual timings that feel approachable and natural. Engaging use of saturated electric pianos, crunchy B3 organs, and airy synth arrangements permeate this collection and underpin these endearing songs.

Overall, a thoughtful collection of alluring compositions and moody performances executed with energy, experience, and confidence.

Written and recorded in Greece, Iceland and Wyoming, USA.
Mastered and produced in Seattle, USA.
