There will come a time There will be a choice There will be a span You must cross on your own And you can never ever complain You will earn acclaim You will be demeaned You will be the target of Burdensome judgment Turmoil, censure, and blame Fall away Honor perspective, but don’t let it lead you astray Face your concerns Confront your distress All of your deep-felt affliction Thwart and deflect Cross with intent Surmount with resolve Appease all of your cravings With gumption and guile Fall away Honor perspective, but don’t let it lead you astray Fall, fall away Bend the horizon, but don’t let it lure you away Don’t let it lure you away Don’t let it lure you away

Take my hand and I’ll take your hand And we’ll reach up towards the sky I help you and you help me And together we will fly Watch my back and I’ll watch your back And together we will try Take my hand and I’ll take your hand And we’ll reach up towards the sky Clever souls with risky goals And you have to really want it Obsessions breed and passions lead And you have to get beyond it Rules gets loose and the plot reduced And you really have to want it Heavens churn and the tempest turns And you have to get beyond it [repeat first stanza]

Phantom matter, wanton truth The sea is calm And it all goes sideways Strange arrangement, no dispute Disregard the time Endless sessions, second line Hidden knots And the charts are tangled Pointless beacon reassigned Leading towards the fuse Answers float but no one heeds Weighted down With the urge submerging Well-prepared but ill-conceived Disrespect the key Unframed reference, site unseen Bones are calm But the orbit stricken Walk away while it’s all pristine Struggle to concede Phantom matter, wanton truth Strange arrangement, no dispute Endless sessions, second line Pointless beacon reassigned Answers float but no one heeds Well-prepared but ill-conceived Unframed reference, site unseen Walk away while it’s all pristine Hope will define me Loosen my grasp Clouds drift inside me Bleed through my past Hunger will guide me Passion should last

Plant your wish, drench your desire Flaunt intent, charm and inspire Values alone Shimmer past your deepest shadow Values alone Light may emerge Luster burns the hidden passage Light may emerge Boldly care, nothing to save Fill the void, don’t be dismayed Values alone Shimmer past your deepest shadow Values alone Light may emerge Luster burns the hidden passage Light may emerge Values alone Forge yourself within the challenge Values alone Light may emerge Drape yourself in aspiration Light may emerge Let me in Let me live in your dream Live in your dream

Everything starts with a simple kiss Everything starts, everything ends Everyone longs for that simple kiss Everyone longs, everything ends Everyone wants to touch the sunlight Everyone wants to hold the moon Everyone wants to be the hero Everyone wants to be consumed Everything begs to be cherished Everything lusts to bring the heat Everything hopes to be the timeline Everything wants to be complete Everything starts with a simple kiss Everything starts, everything ends Everyone longs for that simple kiss Everyone longs, everything ends Everything starts Simple kiss Everything starts Everything starts Simple kiss Everything starts

I should be tired, by now I should be deep within a dream Alert and watchful, discovering a well-concealed theme This moonlit recourse stretches far, so far, beyond my grasp These nighttime insights, they never seem to last This time is just for me Unadorned, unobtrusive Relinquish every claim Promises laid to rest Becalmed at 3am, wide awake, utterly assured Branches tap the glass, sifting snow, evidence obscure This moment standing still, resolute, hinting at neglect Chance and purpose, so seldom intersect This night is just for me Undeterred, deferential Relinquish every goal All my thoughts, incidental This time is all for me Promises laid to rest

Your mind goes still Your heart feels ill Your soul distilled Retreat, revoke Prolong, provoke Impinge, encroach I can help you Yes, I can help you Advance, immerse Embrace the curse Entice, coerce Endorse the spell Corrupt, dispel Pervert, propel I can help you Yes, I can help you [“I think I can help you”, starts every line below] Gonna chip away at your core ambitions Divulge your innermost premonitions Gonna find and fix the original blunder But we’re gonna have to put you under Gonna drop you down with those deep vibrations Gonna set you up with those stiff libations Gonna hurl some sparks, gonna pitch some thunder But we’re gonna have to put you under Gonna dig down deep, gonna get primeval Gonna scorch the roots of your deep upheaval You should know up front that we’re far outnumbered But we’re gonna have to put you under But you gotta have faith and you gotta be willing It’s a bit of a risk and it’s gonna be thrilling Gonna strip you down ‘till your unencumbered But we’re gonna have to put you under It won’t be fast and it won’t be graceful Gonna launch some mass and it’s gonna seem wasteful But tell me now -- did you really love her? But we’re gonna have to put you under

about

Trapper brings his emotional heartfelt blend of intent, intellect, and instinct to the forefront in this diverse and unexpected collection of low-key layered rhythmic rock keepsakes.

The “Solar Kiss” project began near the Arctic Circle in the coastal twilight of northern Iceland and ended in the cold windswept snows of Wyoming’s Medicine Bow Mountains. Among these extremes emerge broad insights and deep emotions that Trapper expresses through his hypnotic off-center timings, approachable themes, unforeseen lyrics, and pleasantly disjointed transitions.

These songs have a lot going on – natural melodies, confident drums, attentive bass lines, saturated synth pads, moody vocals – a full palette performed and captured with instinctive judgment and seasoned expertise. There is an inherent tension between the near-field intimate and the expansive totality. Ultimately, this thoughtful excursion through Trapper’s imaginative landscape will leave you willingly unsettled.

Written and recorded in Siglufjörður, Iceland and Wyoming, USA.
Mastered and produced in Seattle, USA.

Special Thanks: I am grateful to Herhúsid Artist Residency in Iceland and Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts in Wyoming for providing support on this inspirational and fulfilling project.
