The “Soft Craters” song is about all the volcanic craters and cinder cones I explored on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula (Iceland). They are endlessly fascinating with an alluring variety of features – harsh rugged lava, soft deep moss, crumbly scree, holes and caves, pavement-like slabs. Distances and difficulty reaching and exploring these sites varies widely and dangers are deceptive and present, especially off-trail in winter snows, constant winds, and low daylight. They make me feel wild and alive.
